Invent things to look at.

About that Art though

Data culture is as vibrant as cinema culture. Everyone comments on the latest data, celebrates data, questions data, and creates abundant data on their own. Niemeyer’s goal is to contribute to such a Data Culture. Enter the machine.

Data manifestations are materializations of abstract data in the way people can feel. Water Bell deals with sea water levels in bell music. Ice Core Walk deals with climate data stored in the Vostok Ice Core. Quantopia and Network Paradox deal with the myriad different ways in which networks can connect to define emergent ways of life. Niemeyer's work includes collaborations across disciplines and across media from gravure etchings to VR, always with an eye for the poetic foundations of technical protocols. Niemeyer installs data manifestations in museums and galleries, but also in public places like cityscapes, nightclubs, trains, parks and wilderness.
